How can I expand the size of the C drive in windows?
To expand the C drive, you can follow the steps below:
- Firstly, open “Computer Management” by right-clicking on “My Computer” and selecting “Manage”.
- In the “Computer Management” window, click on “Disk Management” in the left menu bar.
- In the “Disk Management” interface, locate the disk partition where the C drive is located, right-click on the disk partition, and select “Compress Volume”.
- In the “Compress Volume” dialog box that appears, enter the desired size for compression, then click the “Compress” button. The system will compress the unused disk space into unallocated space.
- Right-click on unallocated space and select “Extend Volume”.
- Click on “Next” in the “Extend Volume Wizard” dialog box.
- On the “Select Volume Size” screen, choose the size you want to expand, and then click “Next”.
- On the “Complete Expansion Volume Wizard” interface, click on “Finish”.
After completing the above steps, Windows will add the unallocated space to the C drive, thus expanding the C drive. However, it is important to note that the extend volume operation can only add unallocated space to the adjacent primary partition. If the unallocated space is not adjacent to the C drive, it will not be possible to expand it using the disk management tool.
