What file systems are supported by FreeBSD?

FreeBSD supports a variety of different file systems, including but not limited to the following:

  1. UFS (Unix File System) is the most commonly used file system and also the default file system type.
  2. ZFS, short for Zettabyte File System, is an advanced file system that includes features such as data snapshots, data integrity checks, and compression capabilities.
  3. FAT (File Allocation Table): a file system used to be compatible with other operating systems.
  4. NTFS (New Technology File System): The default file system for Windows operating systems, FreeBSD can read but not write to NTFS partitions.
  5. ext2/3/4 file systems are commonly used in Linux operating systems, although FreeBSD can read them, it cannot write to these partitions.

In addition to the mentioned file systems, FreeBSD also supports various other types such as CD-ROM file system (ISO 9660), UDF (Universal Disk Format), HFS (Hierarchical File System), etc. Users can choose the appropriate file system type for storage management based on their needs.
