How do you enter single-user mode in Debian?

You can enter Debian’s single-user mode by following these steps:

  1. Choose the Debian boot menu at startup.
  2. Use the arrow keys to select the Debian kernel you want to enter and press the ‘e’ key to edit.
  3. Add the single user mode flag at the end of the kernel line. You can enter “single” or “1” at the end of the line to enter single user mode. Press Enter afterwards.
  4. Press the ‘b’ key to boot Debian and enter single-user mode.

Debian will begin booting into single-user mode, allowing you to access the root user environment of the system. In this mode, you can perform system maintenance and troubleshooting actions. Please keep in mind that there is no network connection in single-user mode, so some operations may be limited.
