How to enter editing mode in Linux Vim?
To enter edit mode, you can use one of the following methods:
- To open a file in the terminal using Vim, simply type “vim” followed by the file name. By default, Vim will enter command mode. Pressing the “i” key will switch to insert mode.
- In command mode, press the ‘a’ key to enter insert mode, which will move the cursor to the next character at the current position.
- Pressing the “o” key while in command mode enters insert mode and inserts a new line below. The cursor will move to the beginning of the new line.
- In command mode, press the A key to enter insert mode and move the cursor to the end of the current line.
- Pressing the I key takes you into insert mode in command mode, moving the cursor to the beginning of the current line.
Once you enter insert mode, you can start editing your text using any method.
