How can I expand the size of the C drive in windows?

To expand the C drive, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Firstly, open “Computer Management” by right-clicking on “My Computer” and selecting “Manage”.
  2. In the “Computer Management” window, click on “Disk Management” in the left menu bar.
  3. In the “Disk Management” interface, locate the disk partition where the C drive is located, right-click on the disk partition, and select “Compress Volume”.
  4. In the “Compress Volume” dialog box that appears, enter the desired size for compression, then click the “Compress” button. The system will compress the unused disk space into unallocated space.
  5. Right-click on unallocated space and select “Extend Volume”.
  6. Click on “Next” in the “Extend Volume Wizard” dialog box.
  7. On the “Select Volume Size” screen, choose the size you want to expand, and then click “Next”.
  8. On the “Complete Expansion Volume Wizard” interface, click on “Finish”.

After completing the above steps, Windows will add the unallocated space to the C drive, thus expanding the C drive. However, it is important to note that the extend volume operation can only add unallocated space to the adjacent primary partition. If the unallocated space is not adjacent to the C drive, it will not be possible to expand it using the disk management tool.
