How to change the file character set in Linux?

In Linux, the iconv command can be used to change the character encoding of a file.

Here is how to use it:

  1. Open the terminal.
  2. Install with the following command (if not already installed):
  3. Please install the “conv” package using the following command: sudo apt-get install conv
  4. Change the character set of a file using the following command:
  5. Convert the input file from the original character set to the target character set using iconv, and save it to the output file.
  6. The -f parameter specifies the original character set, the -t parameter specifies the target character set, the input file is the file to be converted, and the output file is the converted file.
  7. For example, converting a UTF-8 encoded file to GBK encoding:
  8. Convert the text encoding of input.txt from UTF-8 to GBK and save the output to output.txt.
  9. This will convert the input.txt file from UTF-8 encoding to GBK encoding and save the result to the output.txt file.

Before performing the conversion operation, please make sure to back up your files in case of data loss or corruption.
