How to set up alarm thresholds in Nagios?

You can set alarm thresholds in Nagios by configuring the threshold parameters of the monitored objects. The following are the steps for setting alarm thresholds in Nagios:

  1. To configure Nagios, open the configuration file located in the objects directory of /usr/local/nagios/etc, usually commands.cfg or services.cfg.
  2. Find the definition of the service or host object to be monitored and set the alert threshold parameters in its configuration options. Typically, use the check_command or check_interval fields to define the monitoring script and monitoring interval, and add parameters after these fields to set the alert thresholds. For example, you can add the -w parameter after the check_command field to set the warning threshold, and the -c parameter to set the critical threshold.
  3. Depending on the monitored object, you can set different alarm threshold parameters. For example, for CPU utilization monitoring, a warning can be set to be triggered when it exceeds 70%, and a critical warning when it exceeds 90%.
  4. Save the configuration file and restart the Nagios service to apply the changes.

By following the above steps, you can set alert thresholds in Nagios to automatically send warning notifications based on the status of the monitored objects.
